The Vegetable Garden has a multi-part mission. It helps people understand the benefits of vegetable gardening for both themselves and the environment; shows visitors where food comes from and introduces them to uncommon vegetables and vegetable varieties; and demonstrates gardening techniques to aid them in growing their own successful garden such as:
· Raised bed, vertical and square foot gardening
· Companion planting
· Extending the garden season
· Cover crops and no till gardening
· Drip irrigation
· Composting
Extra food grown here is donated to area homeless shelters.
